Not What I Expected
College is different than I ever would have expected.
Trust me, I mean that in a good way! I never anticipated making so many new friends, participating in what seemed like hundreds of activities, or spending so many late nights doing homework (okay, maybe that’s not a good thing – oops!). College has pushed me so far out of my comfort zone that I don’t think I could go back even if I wanted to – which I don’t. Actually, let me rephrase that. God is pushing me out of my comfort zone, but instead of longing to return to my old, familiar ways, I find myself relying on God more than ever before.
I love being at OBU. Some of the highlights of my time here so far have been Welcome Week, Biggie, Freshman Follies, and Canterbury. Welcome Week was one of the most hectic and incredibly fun weeks of my life. From skits to the Stake Your State dinner, everything made me feel at home on campus and welcomed by everyone. Biggie and Freshman Follies were amazing! The acts were talented and overall the events were so much fun to attend. Canterbury warms my heart and fills my spirit, and worshipping next to my friends and OBU family is one of my favorite parts of being here.
And of course, it’s always exciting to explore a new town and find new restaurants to try! If you haven’t gone to Don Ciro’s yet, run there now and order the tacos- they are amazing! And Shawnee Pho has amazing pho, sushi, egg rolls, orange chicken… I could go on for hours about the incredible food there!! But don’t just take my word for it, go try it yourself! I’m excited to discover other little gems all around Shawnee.
Overall, my time at OBU has been completely filled with new experiences and adventures, and I can’t wait to see what the future holds!
