Rather than us telling you what OBU is like, hear from those who are living the experience now.

When I think of my favorite things at OBU, coffee and community are two of those things. I happen to be a coffee addict, so of course, coffee has to be included. In the Shawnee community, my favorite coffee shop is the Gathering Place. So many OBU students go there to enjoy the coffee and spend time together. A few of my friends and I have a joke. We say, “coffee is spiritual.” We know that coffee is not really spiritual, but we love to have talks about Jesus and about what God is doing in our lives over coffee. Some of my favorite times I have had in college are when my friends and I set aside everything else, go grab a cup of coffee, and just sit there for hours talking and catching up. Another favorite of mine is going to the Gathering Place every Thursday night for Bible Study. It is one of the most encouraging times of the week for me! My friends and I also love to just grab a cup of coffee from the Starbucks on campus. It is the perfect spot to quickly get a coffee and take it to the apartment, go on a walk, or even just sit right there and gather together!

Another thing that really drew me to OBU is the community. There are so many ways to get involved with the community. One thing that I love is dorm life! WMU was the best experience! It is so fun to leave your door open and meet knew people. Me and my roommate set up a coffee bar, with all 38 mugs, syrups, and different coffees under one of the loft beds, and we would invite other girls in from our hall and hang out. Me and my friends ALWAYS had sleepovers on the weekend. We would haul their beds to and from different floors and spend the night in my room, or my friend upstairs. These became some of the most special moments for us. We would use that time for movies and food and, my favorite, prayer time. Another fun thing to get involved with is rock climbing. All the equipment you need is free, and it is so fun! I recently joined the rock climbing club team, and even though I am not super great at it, I love it! I have met so many new friends through rock climbing and it is one of my favorite past times now!

OBU is so focused on creating a Christ-centered community. They allow different student groups and organizations to put on shows so that we as students can get dressed up and go to these events for free! Community is something that you will find is so important to OBU, and it is so important to the student body as well! OBU is the perfect place for creating that Christ-centered community!
